In a move that will strengthen its bank and financial institutions practice, Warner Norcross + Judd LLP has welcomed two experienced banking attorneys, <a href="https://www.wnj.com/people/amy-j-durant/">Amy J. Durant</a> and <a href="https://www.wnj.com/people/mark-b-lehmann/">Mark B. Lehmann</a>.

The two bring nearly 50 years of experience in many facets of banking and finance, including branch management; regulatory compliance; commercial, consumer and mortgage lending; deposit products and services; cybersecurity; board governance; fintech products and services; vendor management; and other areas. Durant will be based in the firm’s Lansing and Grand Rapids offices. Lehmann will be based in Grand Rapids.

<a href="https://www.wnj.com/people/amy-j-durant/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Durant</a> brings nearly 30 years of banking experience to her new role, drawing on decades of experience gained through leadership roles in private practice and at the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau in Washington, D.C. She advises financial institutions on a wide range of consumer finance, compliance and regulatory matters and has helped shape policy affecting banks and other lenders.

Prior to joining Warner, Durant spent a decade working in positions of increasing responsibility with the CFPB, where she advised on policy and strategy issues, drafted consumer protection rules and developed implementation resources to help industry comply with regulatory requirements. Durant participated in the drafting of the small business lending rule and open banking rule and also led initiatives focused on a wide range of consumer finance issues, including consumer and mortgage lending, payday lending, debt collection and other issues.

Durant also worked at Bodman PLC, including as a partner leading the regulatory banking group and consumer finance practice. In this role, she counseled clients on federal and state consumer finance laws and regulations, federal and state banking laws and regulations, state licensing laws, privacy and information security laws and other state and federal matters.

Durant holds a bachelor’s degree from Michigan State University and a law degree from the University of Michigan Law School.

She resides in Okemos with her husband and their two dogs.

<a href="https://www.wnj.com/people/mark-b-lehmann/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Lehmann</a> brings nearly 20 years of extensive experience in banking and banking law with an emphasis on federal and state financial regulatory compliance, risk assessment and policy analysis. He started his career in banking, working in consumer and commercial markets and products in both client-facing and back-office roles.

Prior to joining Warner, Lehmann served as lending product counsel at TruStage Compliance Solutions, where he led legal, compliance and product management of fintech compliance solutions for more than 2,000 banks and financial institutions in the U.S. In this role, he developed and maintained compliance programs, assessed the impact of changes in state and federal statutes and regulations, advised clients on regulatory and product development and related matters.

Lehmann holds a bachelor’s degree from Grand Valley State University and a law degree cum laude from Cooley Law School.

A native of Cedar, Michigan, he now resides in East Grand Rapids with his wife, Khara, and their sons, Daniel and Prescott.
