Warner Names Eight Attorneys as Partners

Warner Norcross + Judd LLP today announced eight attorneys have been named partners.

The new partners are Kelly M. Clum-Matthysse, Brandon J. Cory, DeAndre’ Harris, M. Johnny Pinjuv, Charles R. Quigg, Zainab H. Sabbagh, Jeffrey S. Segal and Jamie C. Slotsema. Sabbagh and Segal are based in Detroit; Clum-Matthysse, Cory, Harris, Pinjuv, Quigg and Slotsema are based in Grand Rapids.

Clum-Matthysse practices in all areas of real estate law, handling commercial lease negotiations, real estate sales and acquisitions and construction projects for clients in Michigan and across the country. She has been named one of Michigan Lawyers Weekly’s Go To Lawyers in real estate and condominium law.

She is a member of the American Bar Association, State Bar of Michigan and Grand Rapids Bar Association. She is a member of the Women Lawyers Association of Michigan – Western Region, Commercial Alliance of Realtors, CREW West Michigan, Women of Habitat Kent and Inforum, a professional women’s alliance. She is immediate past president of the East Grand Rapids Community Foundation.

Clum-Matthysse holds a bachelor’s degree in general education from Aquinas College and a juris doctorate from Indiana University Maurer School of Law.

Cory focuses his practice on general commercial, real estate, construction and securities litigation. He counsels local, regional, national and international business leaders and organizations in a diverse array of industries.

He has been named to the Best Lawyers®: Ones to Watch in America list for general commercial litigation, real estate litigation and securities litigation and Grand Rapids Magazine’s Top Lawyers for real estate litigation. He was a member of the Grand Rapids Area Chamber of Commerce’s Emerging Leaders 2021 cohort. He is a member of the American Bar Association, State Bar of Michigan and State Bar of California.

Cory holds a bachelor’s degree in psychology from the University of Michigan and a juris doctorate from the UCLA School of Law.

Harris focuses his practice on labor and employment law, advising employers across numerous industries, litigating labor and employment disputes and conducting internal investigations. He has been named to the Best Lawyers: Ones to Watch list for labor and employment law management since 2021 and was selected for the Lawyers of Color’s 2022 Hot List.

He is a member of the Grand Rapids Area Chamber of Commerce Leadership Grand Rapids Class of 2023 and was a member of the Chamber’s Emerging Leaders 2019 cohort. He is a member of the American Bar Association, State Bar of Michigan and Grand Rapids Bar Association, where he serves as a trustee. He also serves on the board for Boys and Girls Clubs of Grand Rapids.

Harris holds a bachelor’s degree in political science from Western Michigan University and a law degree magna cum laude from Michigan State University College of Law.

Pinjuv assists individuals and closely held companies with a variety of legal issues related to business and real estate. He counsels clients on acquisitions and divestitures, contract negotiations, corporate governance and general real estate matters. 

He has been named to the Best Lawyers: Ones to Watch lists for mergers and acquisitions law and real estate law. Pinjuv is a member of the American Bar Association, State Bar of Michigan and State Bar of Illinois. He is a member of the Innovating Commerce Serving Communities’ Next Generation Leadership Network 2022-24 cohort.

Pinjuv holds a bachelor’s degree magna cum laude in business administration and a master’s degree cum laude in accounting from the University of Nevada, Las Vegas. He holds a law degree cum laude from the University of Michigan Law School.

Quigg helps clients solve complex civil and criminal problems. While he focuses on white-collar criminal defense and investigations and civil and criminal appeals, he has experience in a wide array of areas, including commercial disputes, constitutional law, campaign finance, administrative law, health care, bankruptcy, intellectual property and tax.

He is recognized in Best Lawyers: Ones to Watch lists for criminal defense/white-collar and antitrust law in Grand Rapids, as a top lawyer in white-collar criminal defense by Grand Rapids Magazine and on the A Lawyer Helps Pro Bono Honor Roll by the State Bar of Michigan.

Quigg is secretary of the West Michigan Chapter of the Federal Bar Association and serves as editor-in-chief of the chapter’s newsletter, Bar & Bench. He is a member of the State Bar of Michigan and District of Columbia Bar.

Quigg holds a bachelor’s degree cum laude in law, jurisprudence and social thought from Amherst College and a law degree magna cum laude from the University of Michigan Law School, where he was Order of the Coif and an executive editor of the Michigan Law Review. He clerked for the Hon. Priscilla Richman of the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Fifth Circuit.

Sabbagh is a litigator who focuses her practice on employment, supply chain and other commercial litigation for a variety of industries. She has experience litigating in state, federal and appellate courts as well as in private arbitration.

She has been named to the Best Lawyers: Ones to Watch lists for commercial litigation and labor and employment litigation. She also has been selected for the State Bar of Michigan’s A Lawyer Helps Pro Bono Honor Roll. Sabbagh is a member of the Federal Bar Association, where she serves as co-editor of the newsletter committee, and the State Bar of Michigan. She serves as vice president for the KEYS Grace Academy board and as a member of Junior Achievement of Southeastern Michigan’s Rising Achievers advisory board. She also is a member of the Detroit Regional Chamber’s current Leadership Detroit cohort.

Sabbagh holds a bachelor’s degree in philosophy with high distinction from the University of Michigan and a law degree cum laude from Wayne State University Law School, where she was note and comment editor for the Wayne Law Review. She clerked for the Hon. Sean F. Cox in the U.S. District Court of the Eastern District of Michigan.

Segal is a health care and tax attorney who counsels and represents various health care organizations and physicians and group practices through a myriad of matters. He works extensively with tax-exempt organizations.

He was named a 2023 Michigan Super Lawyers Rising Star in health care and is recognized in Best Lawyers: Ones to Watch lists for health care law and tax law. He also was selected as a 2024 Top Lawyer in health care law by DBusiness. He is a member of the State Bar of Michigan.

Segal holds a bachelor’s degree cum laude in criminology from Eastern Michigan University and a juris doctor magna cum laude and a Master of Laws in Taxation, both from the Western Michigan University Thomas M. Cooley Law School, where he served as associate editor of the Thomas M. Cooley Law Review. He clerked with the Hon. David M. Lawson for the U.S. District Court in the Eastern District of Michigan.

Slotsema practices family law and domestic relations litigation. She focuses on complex divorce matters, asset division and business valuations, custody and parenting matters, alimony and child support as well as prenuptial and postnuptial agreements.

She is a member of the State Bar of Michigan and State Bar of Indiana. She is a trustee of the Grand Rapids Family Law Section board and vice president of the Grand Rapids Ballet board. She has been selected to present seminars on various family law issues for the Grand Rapids Bar Association, Institute of Continuing Legal Education and Ottawa County Bench Bar Summit.

Slotsema holds a bachelor’s degree in history and political science from Purdue University and a law degree from Valparaiso University School of Law.
