The HR landscape is undergoing major transformation in 2025, fueled by global trends, new regulations, emerging technologies and shifting workplace expectations. To help organizations stay ahead, the American Society of Employers will host its annual Employment Law Briefing to offer insights into the latest legal developments and what they mean for businesses.
Warner Norcross + Judd attorneys Robert Dubault, DeAndre' Harris and Tiffany VanderKolk will lead sessions during the daylong event at Trillium in Spring Lake.
Dubault and VanderKolk will open the agenda with the event’s keynote address, sharing insights on shifting federal enforcement priorities and evolving state laws to help HR professionals navigate a rapidly changing legal environment. Their session will cover key federal actions including developments from the EEOC, DOL and in DEI programs as well as Michigan-specific issues such as ESTA and minimum wage enforcement.
Harris will present on control and compliance strategies for managing intermittent FMLA leave. This session will outline ways to monitor and manage leave, identify abuse and maintain compliance. Harris will also discuss how to create clear procedures and action plans to reduce disruption and protect organizations.
Dubault, who is executive partner of Warner’s Muskegon office, serves on the Employers Association of West Michigan board and Michigan Bankers Association Human Resources Committee. He is a labor and employment attorney whose clients include those in the automotive, food processing, health care, financial services, higher education, aerospace, defense and manufacturing industries as well as community mental health organizations and municipalities.
Harris practices in Warner’s Grand Rapids office and focuses on labor and employment law, advising employers across numerous industries, litigating labor and employment disputes and conducting internal investigations.
VanderKolk concentrates her practice in labor and employment law, regularly advising public and private sector clients on legal compliance and risk management issues, including those related to hiring, performance and discipline, termination, leave management, wage and hour, discrimination and harassment.
