Rob Davies serves as borrower and lender counsel in commercial finance transactions, including serving as local counsel for borrowers and serving as bank and borrower counsel for asset-based lending and mortgage loan financing transactions. He has acted as bank counsel, borrower counsel and bond counsel in tax-exempt and taxable financing transactions. He also enjoys assisting clients with the leasing, development, financing, acquisition and sale of real property, including business and residential condominiums. He is chair of the firm's Financial Services Industry Group and Commercial Finance Practice Group. Rob also has a focus on the mining industry, with experience in mineral acquisition and leasing throughout Michigan, and mineral title opinions.

  • Prepare and negotiate loan documents on behalf of lender and borrower clients
  • Acts as borrower's counsel in HUD-insured loans to health care providers and low income housing project developers
  • Served as bank counsel in its direct purchase of tax-exempt bonds and taxable notes
  • Served as bond counsel in the issuance of tax-exempt bonds by the Michigan Finance Authority, Michigan Strategic Fund and by local Michigan hospital finance authorities
  • Serves as local counsel to borrowers for the purpose of providing local counsel opinion letters for loan transactions
  • Prepares store leases for major retail entities and many types of franchises
  • Assisted with development of numerous residential and business site and traditional condominiums
  • Negotiated purchases, sales and leases for hospitals and other health-care providers
  • Represented seller in a multi-state sale of hotels
  • Represented sellers in real estate portfolio sales to REITs
  • Acquistion of mineral rights and preparation of related title options for client through Michigan
