Beth O’Laughlin is a member of the firm’s Trusts and Estates practice group.  Beth concentrates her practice in the areas of trust and estate planning, small and family business succession planning, and general business law.

Trust and Estate Planning
  • Counsels families, individuals, business owners, physicians and others regarding estate and tax planning
  • Prepares estate plans to effectively distribute assets, minimize taxation and avoid probate
  • Assists clients in integrating real property, business interests and retirement assets into estate plans
  • Builds estate plans to provide for surviving spouses and children from prior relationships
  • Counsels high net worth clients in the use of complex estate planning strategies to reduce or eliminate estate tax
  • Creates special needs trusts for disabled individuals in order to protect inheritances and maintain eligibility for government benefits
  • Assists family businesses in succession planning, efficiently transitioning ownership and management to future generations

Corporate and Business Law  
  • Represents closely held businesses in determining proper entity selection, formation, ongoing operations and succession planning
  • Drafts business agreements, including operating agreements, shareholder agreements, buy-sell agreements, stock redemption agreements, employment agreements, non-compete agreements, nondisclosure agreements and leases
  • Negotiates and structures business transactions, including the drafting of documents to memorialize the purchase, financing and security
