Warner Represents Hurley & Stewart in Sale to Core States Group

Warner Norcross + Judd LLP represented Hurley & Stewart, LLC in its sale to Core States Group, a Pennsylvania-based architecture, engineering and construction firm.

Founded in 2002 by Todd Hurley and Tim Stewart, Hurley & Stewart is a civil engineering, land surveying and landscape architecture firm headquartered in Kalamazoo with an additional office in Grand Rapids. The firm has built a strong reputation throughout Michigan for its client-focused work across commercial, industrial, municipal, education, office and residential markets.

The transaction closed in August. All 32 Hurley & Stewart employees, including its founding partners and leadership team, joined Core States Group. The acquisition expands Core States Group’s Michigan presence and civil engineering capabilities, while supporting its national and multistate clients throughout Michigan and the Upper Midwest.

“Joining Core States Group represents an exciting next chapter for our people,” Hurley said. “We’re incredibly proud of the team and culture we’ve built at Hurley & Stewart, as well as the relationships we’ve developed with our clients and communities. Core States Group shares our collaborative approach and commitment to excellence.”

“This partnership allows us to build on our foundation while creating new opportunities for our people and expanding what we can deliver to our clients,” Stewart said. “Our team will have access to expanded resources, multidisciplinary expertise and professional development opportunities, while our clients will benefit from even more robust and comprehensive solutions.”

Founded in 1999, Core States Group operates 26 offices across the United States and Canada and employs more than 650 people. Its work spans several markets, including financial services, grocery, housing, industrial, restaurants, semiconductors and zero-emission vehicle infrastructure.

The Warner team was led by partner Corinne Curtis and included Lauren Maliszewski, Sarah Harper, Matthew Koenders, Alexandra Haywood, Heidi Lyon, Nadia Little and DeAndre’ Harris.
