Held at Wayne State University Law School, the 2026 Midwest Securities Law Institute is a one-day seminar for practicing attorneys, corporate counsel, compliance officers, arbitrators, financial industry professionals, and law students to explore current and emerging issues in securities regulation. Speakers from the Securities and Exchange Commission, Michigan Department of Licensing and Regulatory Affairs and industry practitioners are on the agenda.

Shane Hansen, a Warner attorney who frequently speaks on securities-related legal and compliance topics, will moderate a morning panel discussion, “Views from Both a Regulator and Compliance Officer,” featuring Joseph Borg, retired Alabama Securities Commissioner and three-time President of the North American Securities Administrators Association, and Chad Hartwick, a leading securities compliance consultant and former regulator with the Michigan Corporation and Securities Bureau.

Hansen, who has practiced law for four decades, focuses on financial services regulation, including federal and state securities and banking laws and FINRA oversight of member broker-dealers and their registered professionals. He advises broker-dealers, investment advisers, private fund advisers, M&A brokers, banks and family offices on a broad range of business, contract, compliance and regulatory matters.
