Greg Schmidt, a corporate attorney who specializes in mergers and acquisitions, takes a pragmatic approach when counseling clients. He helps negotiate contracts between energy suppliers, producers and consumers, including power purchase agreements and other long-term energy supply contracts. In addition, he has completed the purchase of a number of operating solar and wind farms, and negotiated the Development Asset Acquisition Agreement to facilitate the completion of other solar and wind projects. "Being well-versed in legal issues is essential. Where I provide the most value is in helping the client prioritize legal issues, as well as business concerns, in order to develop a strategy for prevailing on the points that truly matter," he says. "To do this effectively requires a genuine interest in your client's business, and an understanding of their motivation in pursuing the acquisition or divestiture."
