Warner Norcross + Judd LLP partner Rozanne M. Giunta has been selected by the Federal Bar Association-Eastern District of Michigan Chapter as the 2021 recipient of its Barbara J. Rom Award for excellence in bankruptcy law.
This lifetime achievement award honors individuals who have exhibited the highest level of overall excellence in the practice of bankruptcy law. Honorees are selected for their civility, sophistication of practice and involvement in the community, Federal Bar Association and bankruptcy court, as well as their pro bono work. They are consumer and business bankruptcy lawyers who practice within the geographical boundaries of the U.S. Bankruptcy Court-Eastern District of Michigan.
A leading bankruptcy and reorganization attorney, Giunta practices in Warner’s Midland and Detroit offices. She regularly represents secured creditors, debtors, creditors’ committees and trustees in Chapter 11 and Chapter 7 proceedings, loan workouts, foreclosure actions and related matters.
Proactive in her approach, Giunta works with businesses regarding alternatives to bankruptcy and to anticipate problems that might arise if bankruptcy is necessary. She counsels corporations of all sizes in various industries, including automotive suppliers, automobile dealerships, farms and related businesses, hospitals and manufacturers. She also represents numerous banks and secured lenders in negotiating and documenting secured transactions and in bankruptcy proceedings.
A Fellow in the American College of Bankruptcy, Giunta is also recognized as one of the Best Lawyers in America and Super Lawyers of Michigan. She was named the Troy 2022 Bankruptcy and Creditor Debtor Rights/Insolvency and Reorganization Lawyer of the Year and the 2021 and 2018 Troy Bankruptcy Litigation Lawyer of the Year by Best Lawyers. In addition, she was recognized in Lawdragon’s inaugural list of 500 Leading U.S. Bankruptcy & Restructuring Lawyers in 2020.
Active professionally and in the community, Giunta was chair of the Debtor and Creditors’ Rights Committee of the Real Property Law Section of the State Bar of Michigan and the Rules Committee for the Eastern District of Michigan. She also serves on the mediation panel for the Eastern District of Michigan and has successfully mediated numerous matters relating to bankruptcy and commercial law issues.
Giunta serves on the Hidden Harvest board and as a member of the Finance Council and Long Term Financial Planning Committee for the Catholic Diocese of Saginaw. She also is member of the foundation board and Pro Bono Committee for the American College of Bankruptcy.
