Warner Norcross + Judd LLP is proud to sponsor the two-day 64th Annual Probate & Estate Planning Institute seminar cohosted by the Probate & Estate Planning Section of the State Bar of Michigan and the Institute of Continuing Legal Education.

Warner partners Dan Borst, Laura Morris and David Skidmore join other national and regional business leaders who will present during the two-day event. Even the most seasoned estate planners will benefit from robust discussion on topics covering the Uniform Power of Attorney Act, EPIC Omnibus changes, increasing probate litigation and other sweeping changes and practical issues estate planners face.

Borst, who concentrates his practice in trusts and estate planning, family business and succession planning and other matters, will participate on a panel “New lawyers, you have the floor,” designed as an open forum for substantive Q&A.

Morris, a trial attorney and mediator who focuses her practice on family disputes involving trusts, estates, wills, powers of attorney, charitable gifts, guardianships and conservatorships, will present “Emergency and Immediate Relief in the Elder Abuse Realm.” Morris’ remarks will cover criminal referrals and investigations, protective relief in probate courts, FEPA, adult protective services referrals and sworn complaints to track down assets.

Skidmore, a former chair of the State Bar of Michigan's Probate and Estate Planning Council, concentrates his practice on probate, trust, estate, fiduciary and real property disputes and litigation. He will present a “Caselaw Update” to discuss new legal developments in probate and estates.

The two-day event begins Thursday, May 16 at noon with registration and a vendor showcase at Grand Traverse Resort & Spa in Acme, MI. Guests will have networking opportunities throughout the day and at evening receptions. Seminar attendees can earn up to 11.5 CLE credits for their participation.
