The California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA) broadly applies to data collected about California residents. Failure to comply with its provisions can result in enforcement actions by the State of California and lawsuits by California residents, even without proof of actual damages. Revisions to the CCPA are expected this fall. In this presentation, we discussed the revised law and notable changes since it first debuted, including the types of information covered by the law and to whom the law applies. We also covered specific compliance issues, such as:
- Internal preparation, including data mapping and security practices
- Ensuring appropriate language is in your vendor agreements
- Preparing your website and what information you must make available
- How to respond to individual requests
Presenters: Norbert Kugele, Kelly Hollingsworth and Alex Chitwood
