Webinar: New COVID-19 Rules and Requirements for Michigan Employers

Hosted By: Warner

Warner attorneys Steve Palazzolo, Karen VanderWerff and DeAndre’ Harris presented a complimentary webinar focused on current workplace safety requirements. In early October, the Michigan Supreme Court invalidated Governor Gretchen Whitmer’s executive orders, including those relating to COVID-19 and workplace safety. Almost immediately, the Department of Health and Human Services and MIOSHA issued emergency rules to fill the void. The Legislature then passed a package of new COVID-19-related bills which the Governor signed into law on October 22, 2020. While these emergency orders and new laws largely mirror the requirements of the Governor’s invalidated orders, there are several important distinctions, including new immunity protections for employers that follow the law as well as monetary liability for employers that don’t. We will bring you up-to-date on your obligations as you continue to navigate through these unprecedented times.
