Companies with operations in California or doing business with individuals in California are currently subject to the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA), which sets forth requirements around personally identifiable information collected about California residents. California voters approved a ballot measure that rewrites the CCPA into the California Privacy Rights Act (CPRA). Even though the revisions won’t go into effect until January 1, 2023, they will impact activities taking place in 2022 and have implications for data about consumers, employees and business contacts.
