Warner Partner Rodney D. Martin Named to 16 Over 60 List

Warner Norcross + Judd LLP partner Rodney Martin has been selected as a member of the Senior Neighbors 16 Over 60 class.

For its second 16 Over 60 class, Senior Neighbors selected 16 individuals over the age of 60 in Kent County who have inspired others and positively impacted the community through business excellence and other extraordinary efforts. Martin concentrates his practice in banking law, data analytics, cybersecurity, regulatory and compliance and funds and investment services and chairs the firm’s Financial Services Industry Group. Martin led the firm’s diversity and inclusion program for 13 years.

His nomination read in part: “Rodney has always been an advocate for diversity and inclusion in the practice and in the community. Most recently, he has taken it upon himself to become an expert on the effects of recent changes to state law and how the disparity between state and federal laws for controlled substances can create a public safety crisis. Rodney will continue to advise banks on the changing landscape. Rodney is also an amateur photographer and traveler. His zest for life, progressive mindset and willingness to not only gain new knowledge but become an expert in the dynamic world of financial services law shows that he is engaged and is an inspiration to all who know him.”

Alongside fellow recipients, Martin will be honored during an awards ceremony on Wednesday, Nov. 13 at Frederik Meijer Gardens & Sculpture Park.

Martin has received numerous awards throughout his legal career, including recognition by Best Lawyers, Michigan Super Lawyers and Michigan Lawyers Weekly. He serves on the BL2END Advisory Council and the board of the Comprehensive Therapy Center, Inc. He is a member of the Economic Club of Grand Rapids and Inforum and a past program chair for Boy Scouts of America, Gerald R. Ford Council.

In addition to his professional work and dedication to the law, Martin has committed much of his life to promoting diversity and inclusion. In 2012, Martin received the Grand Rapids Bar Association President’s Award for his efforts to increase diversity and inclusion in the Bar and the William Glenn Trailblazer Award along with other members of the Rosa Parks Sculpture Committee.
