Heidi A. Lyon, a partner with Warner Norcross + Judd LLP, has been recognized in the Crain’s Grand Rapids Business 2026 “Notable Women in Law” list.
Notable Women in Law recognizes women who set legal precedents, relentlessly pursue justice, win big cases, complete large deals or handle notable pro bono work and serve in leadership roles for professional and community service organizations, all while mentoring other attorneys.
Her nomination read in part: “Since 2002, Heidi has handled employee benefit plans for global businesses with over 20,000 employees, national and local companies, universities, hospitals, non-profits and governments. She handles executive compensation for C-suite executives and directors. Her big win was helping the board of a pension plan resolve a funding crisis that could have jeopardized the pensions of over 10,000 employees. Heidi led the legal team, navigating challenges, avoiding litigation and stabilizing the plan.”
Lyon concentrates her practice in retirement plan and executive compensation matters for a wide range of clients. She is based in Warner’s Grand Rapids office and has also served as chair of the firm’s Employee Benefits Practice Group, on the firm’s Management Committee, and led its Professional Staff Committee for many years, overseeing, developing and mentoring the firm’s senior counsel, associates and paralegals.
She has been selected as Fellow of the American College of Employee Benefits Counsel for her contributions to the advancement of the employee benefits field. The Best Lawyers in America® has also honored her for the past 13 years, and she was named a leader in her field in Michigan in Chambers USA for three years. She was also recognized as a Top Lawyer in her field for Grand Rapids in Grand Rapids Magazine for five years. In 2009, she was listed as one of the 20 Up & Coming Lawyers for her work in Michigan Lawyers Weekly.
Lyon is a member of the American Society of Pension Professionals and Actuaries and the IRS Great Lakes Tax-Exempt and Governmental Entities Council. She also is a member of the American Bar Association, State Bar of Michigan and Grand Rapids Bar Association.
