ICSC, formerly known as the International Council of Shopping Centers, is hosting the conference, “Retail Intelligence: AI, Economics and Michigan’s Market Momentum,” with a focus on emerging issues, trends and recent developments in the local and regional retail real estate market. Industry leaders will discuss legal issues, financing strategies and other topics relevant to real estate professionals serving developers, owners, lenders, tenants, leasing agents and property managers.
Warner attorney Kurt Brauer will moderate the panel “Deal Killers or Dealmakers? Environmental Due Diligence and Brownfield Redevelopment” to cover the critical role environmental issues play in the development and financing of commercial retail and mixed-use developments. For the broker and developer, the panel will discuss the legal basis for environmental liability, the ABC’s of conducting environmental due diligence, interpreting the resulting opportunities and obligations, as well as the potential deal benefits and impacts that can help a project get off the ground.
Warner attorney Andrew Reside will participate on the “Legal Updates 2026” panel discussion to explore recent cases and legislative updates impacting the real estate industry. The panel will address updates to the Marketable Record Title Act, Land Division Act and cases related to foreclosure, short-term vacation rentals, property tax uncapping and other topics.
At Warner, Brauer counsels clients on economic development, environmental compliance and regulatory matters, with an emphasis on brownfield redevelopment and business expansion incentive packages. He has worked on complex real estate and incentive projects across Michigan, including data center projects.
Reside is a corporate and real estate attorney who focuses his practice on transactional matters. His real estate work entails drafting lease agreements and representing clients on zoning matters and appeals, property tax matters and administrative law issues.
