Warner Norcross + Judd is proud to sponsor the 66th Annual Probate & Estate Planning Institute seminar cohosted by the Probate & Estate Planning Section of the State Bar of Michigan and the Institute of Continuing Legal Education.

Warner partners Daniel Borst, Laura Jeltema and David Skidmore will join other national and regional experts to present during the three-day event. Even the most seasoned estate planners will benefit from robust discussions on topics including navigating retirement assets, saving time with technology, critical caselaw, Medicaid updates and other legislative matters. Guests will also have opportunities to meet  faculty, sponsors, exhibitors and fellow registrants at an evening networking reception.

Borst, who concentrates his practice in trusts and estate planning, will participate in the track “Marital Agreements in Michigan: Where We’ve Been and Where We’re Going” to discuss whether Michigan’s adoption of the Uniform Marital Agreement Act makes those agreements more enforceable or less. The panelists will also review the Allard decision and its impact on agreements.

Jeltema, who concentrates her practice in trusts and estates law and family office law, will offer an on-demand session, “The Who, Where and What of Trust Accountings.” The conversation will help crack the mystery of trust accountings by examining what they contain, who needs to receive them and why they are important. Jeltema will also offer tips on how to prepare, review and transmit trust accounts.

Skidmore, who is a former chair of the State Bar of Michigan's Probate and Estate Planning Council, will offer a plenary session covering recent caselaw updates. Skidmore concentrates his practice on probate, trust, estate, fiduciary, and real property disputes and litigation.

The Novi ICLE Probate event will be held on Friday, June 5 at the Vine Credit Union Showplace. Seminar attendees can earn CLE credits for their participation. For more information on the event, please click here.
