Warner Norcross + Judd LLP attorney James L. Liggins Jr. has been reappointed by Gov. Gretchen Whitmer to the Western Michigan University Board of Trustees.
From its campus in Kalamazoo, Western Michigan University is a public research university offering an innovative educational approach and leading-edge research opportunities to help students find purpose. It’s known for its nationally ranked programs in engineering, aviation, music and theatre, Haworth College of Business, Homer Stryker M.D. College of Medicine, graduate programs and more.
Liggins was appointed to a vacancy on the WMU board in January 2024. With his reappointment, he will serve an eight -year term. He is co-chairing the search for the university’s 10th president.
Liggins serves as senior counsel in Warner’s Kalamazoo office, where he runs a multifaceted practice encompassing construction litigation, property disputes and real estate concerns, as well as business contractual disputes, criminal defense, health care issues and emergency manager matters.
