“To Pay or Not to Pay: What You Need to Know About Ransomware Attacks,” Midland Daily News

Warner senior counsel Adam Bruski writes on the topic of ransomware attacks for the Midland Daily News. As more sophisticated and destructive ransomware attacks are on the rise, companies must decide between paying the ransom or facing prolonged business or data loss. Businesses in highly-regulated industries such as health care, finance and government contractors, and companies whose older computer system can’t be properly supported by anti-ransomware software, are primary targets.

Bruski walks readers through the risks associated with paying the ransom – including recommendations and warnings from the FBI, U.S. Department of Health and Human Services and the Department of Treasury’s Office of Foreign Assets Control. And, he urges companies to take steps to guard against these attacks.
