With a proliferation of new laws at the local, state and federal level, Michigan businesses face an increasingly complex regulatory environment. Michigan Aggregates Association’s Annual Conference helps members and guests stay ahead of the curve by providing timely updates on key issues including health and safety, land use, taxation, material specifications, land reclamation, the environment and more. Warner Norcross + Judd LLP partners Ashley Chrysler and Kurt Kissling have been invited to speak at the two-day event.
Chrysler, who specializes in complex commercial litigation and appeals, with a particular focus on environmental, renewable energy, mining and zoning litigation, will present on Public Act 235. Chrysler’s session, “Deeper Dive into the Green Energy Law,” will focus on the implications of the act, which mandates a 50% renewable energy standard by 2030 increasing to 60% by 2035. Chrysler will also discuss how this legislation ties into the newly passed solar and windmill siting laws.
Kissling, an environmental attorney with decades of experience in all matters related to the Clean Air Act as well as its state and local counterparts, will present “Air Compliance and Enforcement.” Much has changed since the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency’s February 2024 announcement that it’s reducing the allowable amount of PM2.5, also known as “fine particulate matter” or “soot,” in the air. Kissling’s discussion will focus on recent air permitting and compliance regulations, helping businesses to meet all legal requirements to avoid costly penalties.
MAA’s two-day annual conference runs Feb. 12-13 and includes keynote addresses, breakout educational sessions, a trade show and networking opportunities.
