With more than two dozen data center proposals on the table, including at least three major hyperscale centers, data centers are the topic of conversation du jour in Michigan, with many of the largest and most sophisticated operators eyeing the state for potentially massive investments. HalfMoon Education is hosting “AI Data Centers in Michigan: Electric Utility Regulation, Siting and Environmental Law” to discuss key legal issues facing developers and operators.
Warner attorney Kurt Brauer has been invited to present “Utility Contracting, Rates and Economic Incentives.” Brauer will focus his comments on:
- State and local tax incentives
- Special contracts under Michigan Public Service Commission approval
- Demand charges, peak loads and renewable energy procurement
- Land valuation and taxable improvements for data center campuses
At Warner, Brauer counsels clients on economic development, environmental compliance and regulatory matters, with an emphasis on brownfield redevelopment and business expansion incentive packages. He has worked on complex real estate and incentive projects across Michigan, including data center projects.
