The American Bar Association’s Centennial Conference on Environmental, Energy and Resources Law marks 100 years of the Section of Environment, Energy and Resources’ (SEER) role in shaping policy in environmental, energy and natural resources law. This special event will bring together visionary thought leaders for dynamic conversations on past achievements, present challenges and future innovations to reflect on the SEER’s historic role and while also exploring the future of environment, energy and resources law.
Warner partner Daniel Ettinger will participate in the panel “Century of Energy Policy That Informs Today’s Energy Transition,” examining how legacy and outdated legal frameworks are being applied to modern energy challenges amid rapid technological and policy change. The panel will cover:
- Applying legacy laws, like the Federal Power Act of 1935, to today’s energy system.
- Pressures from rising demand, climate concerns and interconnection challenges.
- The role of technologies like renewables, nuclear, storage and carbon capture.
- Impact of recent legislation, including the 2025 One Big Beautiful Bill Act.
- Strategies to accelerate energy development across jurisdictions.
Ettinger concentrates his practice on mining, renewable energy, oil and gas and other natural resource matters, with a special focus on issues related to Native American tribes and cultural resources. He represents local, national and international clients in environmental litigation and appeals, zoning and land use matters, permitting and regulatory compliance. He chairs the firm’s Resources, Energy and Environmental Law Practice Group.
