As new and evolving laws continue to emerge at the local, state and federal levels, Michigan businesses are navigating an increasingly complex regulatory landscape. The Michigan Aggregates Association’s 2026 Annual Conference will equip members and guests with timely insights to help them stay ahead of regulatory change, with updates on critical issues such as health and safety, land use, taxation, material specifications, land reclamation, environmental compliance and more.
Warner partners Christian Meyer and Emily Rucker have been invited to speak at this year’s conference to discuss construction liens, including when and how they are used. The pair will provide an overview of Michigan’s Construction Lien Act, which establishes certain rights for contractors, subcontractors, material suppliers and laborers to secure payment for labor and materials provided to a construction project.
Meyer, who is chair of the Warner’s Real Estate Practice Group, concentrates his practice on a variety of real estate, zoning and property tax matters for businesses and individuals, including retailers, financial institutions, developers, contractors, family offices and nonprofit organizations.
Rucker, who co-chairs the firm’s Construction Disputes Practice Group, is a commercial litigator who focuses on construction and supply chain matters. In the construction industry, she supports owners, lenders, contractors, subcontractors and material suppliers in resolving a variety of disputes, including construction lien and payment claims as well as defect and delay matters.
MAA’s three-day annual conference runs Feb. 11-13 and includes keynote addresses, breakout educational sessions, a trade show and networking opportunities. The conference, held at Battle Creek’s FireKeepers Casino & Hotel, concludes with MAA’s Awards and Networking Dinner.
