Bill Hall is a seasoned commercial real estate attorney with a primary sub-specialty in mining law. For almost two decades, he has worked deeply within the mining and oil and gas industries, assisting U.S., Canadian, Australian and UK clients with their U.S. mineral financing, development, leasing, title opinion and other needs. He also provides commercial and transactional real estate counsel to Michigan businesses, developers and individuals that are engaged in purchasing, selling, financing, leasing and development across the U.S. His practice extends to condominium development, tax-free exchanges of real estate and the sale and purchase of real estate in bankruptcy.

  • Has documented and closed hundreds of transactions involving the purchase, development, sale and financing of retail shopping centers, manufactured housing communities, hotels, manufacturing facilities and other real estate throughout the United States.
  • Has represented several metallic and nonmetallic mining companies in the purchase, lease and development of mineral interests and mineral processing facilities in the Upper Peninsula of and throughout Michigan.
  • Has represented borrowers, bank lenders and lead bookrunners in financing mineral purchases, asset-based loans and note offerings secured by mineral interests.
  • Has represented investors and targets in complex equity and mineral royalty sale and purchase transactions in mines

  • Represented a mining company in the largest negotiation, purchase and exchange of lands from the State of Michigan in modern history, comprising in excess of 10,000 surface and mineral acres.
  • Has represented many developers in creating and marketing business, residential, site, marina (dockominium), leasehold, mixed use, retail, parking and office condominium projects throughout Michigan.
  • Has represented buyers, lenders, trustees and debtors in bankruptcy proceedings for the auction, sale and purchase of operating manufacturers, marinas, facilities, hotels and retailers, and commercial real estate.
  • Has extensive experience in the analysis of riparian and water rights and the purchase, sale and development of high value waterfront and lakefront resorts, cottages and properties on the Great Lakes and inland lakes and streams.
  • Has represented clients in the sale, purchase and development of timberlands.
  • Has experience with the Michigan Qualified Forest Act, the Michigan Commercial Forest Act.
  • Has represented landowners and nonprofit conservation organizations in preparing and negotiating conservation easements and creating wetlands mitigation banks.
  • Has represented private parties in the negotiation of land exchanges with the State of Michigan and US Forest Service.
  • Has represented dozens of condominium and homeowners associations in connection with the creation and amendment of governing documents and community management.
