When supporting clients, my first priority is to listen. Guided by my background as a former clinical therapist, I take the time to understand each client’s circumstances, concerns and goals. While some cases may seem similar on paper, every client has different needs. I am committed to delivering personalized, high-quality legal support with professionalism and compassion so clients feel heard, respected and empowered throughout the process.

Alexis Tillery brings a distinctive blend of experience to her law practice from her work in federal and circuit courts and her career as a therapist. Her unique background allows her to understand the emotions and dynamics that drive legal issues.

Before joining Warner, Alexis earned her master’s degree in social work and was part of a psychology practice where she supported children in foster care through significant life transitions. Her role regularly brought her into the courtroom, where she learned how decisions were made and how advocacy could change outcomes. This experience ultimately inspired her to pursue a career in law.

While earning her law degree, Alexis built a strong foundation through a range of clerkship and internship experiences that provided firsthand insight into the processes and decision-making that shape the legal system. She served as a judicial intern at the Oakland County Circuit Court Family Division, a law clerk in the Office of Legal Counsel for the governor of Michigan and a judicial extern for the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Michigan. As a summer associate at Warner, she contributed to mediations, drafted legal documents for use in court proceedings and collaborated with attorneys across multiple practice areas.

Alexis is known for her strong work ethic, thoughtfulness and genuine passion for her work. Throughout her career, she has balanced demanding responsibilities, including full-time academic studies alongside her work as a therapist and manager at her aunt’s Italian ice business. These experiences strengthened her organizational skills, adaptability and ability to connect authentically with people from diverse backgrounds.

Alexis received her law degree from the University of Detroit Mercy School of Law, where she contributed to the <em>University of Detroit Mercy</em> <em>Law Review</em>. She holds a master’s degree in social work from Wayne State University and a bachelor’s degree in psychology from Albion College.
