The Affordable Care Act mandates new, complex employer reporting obligations for employers with 50 or more full-time equivalent employees that go into effect for 2015, with the first set of reports due in January 2016. Employers must master a number of codes that the IRS will use to determine an employee’s eligibility for subsidies and the employer’s potential liability for “pay or play” penalties.
