Warner Norcross + Judd LLP has welcomed William R. Garchow as senior counsel in its Midland office.
Garchow concentrates his practice on real estate, banking, commercial lending and corporate law. With 26 years of experience in private practice and corporate roles at top national banks, he counsels clients on a range of complex legal matters, including commercial loans, letters of credit, regulatory and policy matters, real estate and business transactions and more.
Prior to joining Warner, Garchow served as senior counsel at Huntington National Bank, where he led legal support for private banking, preferred banking, institutional trust and investment management. He also managed fiduciary litigation, commercial lending, letters of credit and regulatory matters. Garchow previously served as senior legal counsel at Chemical Bank and TCF National Bank, which later became Huntington.
Earlier in his career, Garchow worked in private practice at two law firms in Midland, where he focused on real estate, banking and corporate law and gained experience in bankruptcy, loan workouts, foreclosures and business transactions.
He is a member and former chair of the Michigan Bankers Association Bank Counsel Committee.
Active in the Midland community, Garchow is a commissioner for the City of Midland Housing Commission and a member and former chair of the Midland Area Community Foundation board of trustees. He previously served as a board member and chair of North Midland Family Center and as a board and committee chair for Midland County Habitat for Humanity. He is a 2005 graduate of Leadership Midland, a community leadership training program.
Garchow holds a bachelor’s degree summa cum laude in history from Alma College and a law degree magna cum laude from the Wake Forest University School of Law, where he was the executive editor of the Wake Forest Law Review.
A native of Breckenridge, Michigan, Garchow resides in Midland with his wife, son and their two dogs.
