Warner Norcross + Judd LLP has welcomed Jason P. Colvin as a partner in its Kalamazoo office.
A litigator with a focus on family law, Colvin has extensive experience guiding clients through complex and sensitive matters, including divorce, custody arrangements, prenuptial and postnuptial agreements, personal protection orders and alternative dispute resolution. He has also handled contract disputes, business law litigation and criminal defense matters, among others.
Prior to joining Warner, Colvin was a partner in the family law practice at Miller Johnson, in addition to working at another Kalamazoo law firm. He also served as senior quality assurance and operations manager for Stryker Corp.
Colvin began his career in the U.S. Navy, where he advanced to the rank of lieutenant and served as a nuclear submarine officer, managing teams in engineering, weapons systems and nuclear regulations.
Active professionally, Colvin is president of the Kalamazoo Bar Association and a member of the Kalamazoo Family Law Bar and Veterans for Smart Power. He reestablished the Kalamazoo Family Law Clinic, which provides pro bono legal advice to the community. Colvin also cultivated a pro bono partnership with Legal Aid of Southwest Michigan to assist survivors of domestic abuse.
Colvin holds a bachelor’s degree magna cum laude from the U.S. Naval Academy in Annapolis, Maryland, and a law degree magna cum laude from Cooley Law School.
A native of Manton, Colvin resides in Kalamazoo with his wife, Amy, and has three children.
