Warner Norcross + Judd LLP has been recognized for excellence in pro bono service by Legal Services Corp., the largest nonprofit funder of civil legal aid in the U.S.

Warner accepted the award at a ceremony in Detroit as part of LSC’s forum on how to expand access to civil legal services and protections for hardworking Michiganders, including veterans, seniors and low-income families.

The basis for Warner’s inclusion in this year’s awards includes the firm’s decades-long support of Legal Aid of Western Michigan’s casework involving expungement, real estate, family law and domestic violence. LAWM protects rights, challenges injustice and fights poverty through free legal advocacy for people and families. Since January 2023, Warner has closed 117 of LAWM’s pro bono cases, or 23% of its total caseload.

“At Warner, we share the passion of the Legal Services Corporation to bring high-quality legal representation and advocacy to those who need and could not otherwise afford it,” said Chris Meyer, Warner partner and co-coordinator of the firm’s pro bono practice. “The results are often lifechanging, positively impacting people’s ability to secure housing, employment, professional licensing, education, financial security and most importantly, a future of hope and opportunity.”

In addition to its support of LAWM, Warner currently contributes to the success of more than 150 nonprofit organizations throughout Michigan and has cultivated a culture of giving and community stewardship since 1931. The firm and 18 of its attorneys were also recently recognized by the State Bar of Michigan in the 2024 “A Lawyer Helps” Pro Bono Honor Roll for advancing access-to-justice initiatives through pro bono legal services.
