Warner Partner Bruce C. Young Honored by Inclusion in Michigan Lawyers Weekly 2022 Hall of Fame

Warner Norcross + Judd LLP partner Bruce C. Young has been selected for Michigan Lawyers Weekly’s 2022 Hall of Fame.

Now inducting its fourth Hall of Fame class, the publication chose 20 Michigan attorneys for their success and demonstration of strong leadership both within and outside of their chosen legal field, as well as their contributions to the community.

Young has served as a trusted advisor to family businesses and family offices for nearly 40 years, focusing on corporate and transactional work and succession planning. Alongside fellow recipients, Young will be honored during an awards luncheon April 8 and will be profiled in the publication’s Hall of Fame insert.

Young’s nomination read in part: “Bruce has a particular passion for working with family-owned businesses as he is a third-generation shareholder in his family’s business, The Behler-Young Company. To Bruce, the law is fundamentally about helping people; he notes ‘businesses are still about people.’ He firmly believes the presence of family-owned businesses makes a community a better place to live and work, and he has prioritized his practice to help these organizations.”

Young has concentrated his practice on the representation of family-owned businesses and their owners in transition of ownership and management to future generations, professional management or third-party purchasers, as well as representation of large and small businesses on corporate governance, commercial and transitional matters. He also has extensive experience with third-party legal opinions for secured and unsecured financings, mergers and acquisitions and securities transactions, among others.

Active professionally and in the community, Young serves on the board and as secretary of the Family Business Alliance, on the boards for the Michigan Crossroads Council and President Ford Field Service Council of the Boy Scouts of America. He is a member of the Economic Club of Grand Rapids, Grand Rapids Area Chamber of Commerce and Working Group on Legal Opinions. Young is also a member of the Grand Rapids Rotary Club, where he serves as a mentor to high school students.

He is a member of the American Bar Association, State Bar of Michigan and Grand Rapids Bar Association. Young is recognized as one of the Best Lawyers in America©, which awarded him “Lawyer of the Year” on multiple occasions for his work with family businesses and closely held companies.

Young was honored by Senior Neighbors in 2020 as one of its 16 Over 60 honorees, which recognizes 16 individuals 60 or older for their engagement in the community and their impact on the lives of others.

Young holds a bachelor’s degree in engineering from the University of Michigan magna cum laude, an MBA from Cornell University cum laude and a law degree from the Cornell Law School.
