Warner Partner Jonathan Lauderbach Selected for 2018 Leaders in the Law

Jonathan E. Lauderbach, a Warner Norcross + Judd LLP partner, has been recognized by Michigan Lawyers Weekly as one of the year’s “Leaders in the Law.”

The award, which will be presented in a special ceremony on April 5, recognizes attorneys who have made outstanding contributions to the practice of law in Michigan, while demonstrating superior leadership and offering a wealth of expertise in several areas of the law. Lauderbach, who previously served as a circuit judge for Midland County and founded the firm’s Midland office, has extensive experience in litigation matters involving corporate governance, contract, restructuring, fiduciary duty, fraudulent transfer, land use and intellectual property.

His nomination read in part: “Warner took notice of Jon’s exceptional legal abilities, reputation and influence, and in 2013 asked him to step down from the bench and start the firm’s Midland office. He identified a need in the community for specialized legal services for the businesses that were growing and expanding in his region and accepted the responsibility of founding the new office. With his leadership, Midland is now the fastest-growing office in the firm’s footprint.

“Jon strives to be a positive role model in the communities he serves. He also believes his professional abilities should go beyond the office walls and benefit the community as a whole with his expertise in governmental affairs, economic development and civic matters.”

Lauderbach serves on the Michigan Attorney Discipline Board. While on the bench, he served on the Michigan Judges Association Corrections Committee and was involved in numerous technology implementation and electronic filing initiatives, including the Michigan Supreme Court’s Electronic Filing Advisory Committee, Technology Implementation Committee and Judicial Needs Assessment Committee. He has also been named a Michigan Super Lawyers.

In his community, Lauderbach worked with a team of local leaders to develop the Midland Business Alliance, a strategic affiliation between the Midland Area Chamber of Commerce and Midland Tomorrow.  He also serves as an adjunct professor at Michigan State University’s College of Law.

Previously, Lauderbach served as a director and past board chair of Eagle Village, Inc., a nonprofit youth service and rehabilitation organization, Big Brothers Big Sisters of Midland County and as a trustee of the Delta College Foundation and the endowment of the First United Methodist Church in Midland.
