The law firm of Warner Norcross & Judd LLP will offer a half-day executive panel on human resources on Tuesday, Oct. 25 in Midland.
The program is designed specifically for HR executives, senior managers and in-house counsel, exploring emerging issues designed to help employers attract and retain a talented workforce while ensuring compliance with rapidly changing regulations. The sessions will focus on labor and employee benefits, featuring case studies and panel discussions led by experienced Warner Norcross attorneys.
The event, which will be held at the H Hotel, 111 W. Main Street, begins with registration and a continental breakfast at 8 a.m. and wraps up at 1 p.m. after a networking lunch.
Panelists include Margaret Stalker Jozwiak Norbert F. Kugele, Mary Jo Larson, Steven A. Palazzolo, Karen J. VanderWerff, Michael E. Wooley and Carly A. Zagaroli.
The discussions will focus on:
- Managing an Evolving Workforce, which will look at the impact that cost containment, the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission and the courts are having on the workplace. The discussion will explore topics ranging from transgender discrimination, labor violations, benefit plans, wellness programs, fiduciary rules and related issues. It will also offer insight into immigration and regulations as they pertain to hiring individuals from other countries.
- Attracting and Retaining Millennials, which will focus on strategies to retain younger employees, including innovation examples, retirement plan strategies, effective health care benefits, student loan assistance programs and more.
- Wage/Hour and FLSA Issues, which will focus on the new Department of Labor regulations that take effect Dec. 1 and expand the salary requirements for exempt employees, including steps to minimize liability for unauthorized hours worked and overtime, Equal Pay Act litigation trends and other issues.
