Warner Launches New Trademark Management Platform and Gains Recognition for Innovative Approach

Warner Norcross & Judd LLP has received accolades – and an innovation award – for Capsis®, its new trademark management platform.

Introduced earlier this year, Capsis is a proprietary, web-based system that compiles key data for brand owners and streamlines administrative workflow for managing trademark portfolios. The proprietary technology empowers brand owners with automated tools for managing, monitoring and protecting their marks.

Developed by Warner Norcross partner James L. Scott with technical support from BizStream, Capsis recently captured top honors at the Legal Marketing Association Technology Conference. As the winner of the Strategy and Innovation Impact Award, Capsis was recognized for its innovative approach to delivering value to clients.

“We are gratified that the Legal Marketing Association recognizes Capsis for its innovation and ability to assist clients with managing and protecting their trademark portfolios,” Scott said. “Capsis compiles significant amounts of useful data in a single spot and frees clients to spend valuable time focused on strategic matters rather than administrative tasks.  Its innovative approach to brand management sets it apart from other systems.”

A secure portal lets clients explore their entire brand portfolio, including action dates, prosecution history, goods and services, assignment history and more. Capsis also:

Scott explained that Capsis improves workflow efficiency and streamlines routine administrative tasks by giving clients control of renewals, status changes and other notifications. Clients can send requests and inquiries through Capsis directly to their Warner Norcross attorneys.

“Our goal in developing Capsis was to extract and compile the information most relevant to a brand owner’s portfolio, and present it in a convenient and easy-to-use package,” Scott said. “Overlooking key data relevant to your marks or those of your competitors can result in costly mistakes. Capsis ensures that you have everything you need at your fingertips – including direct connection with your attorney in a couple of clicks.”

More than three years in development and beta testing, Capsis debuted earlier this year to solid client reviews. Based in Allendale, Michigan, BizStream is the technical partner in the development of Capsis. Since its founding by Mark Schmidt in 2001, BizStream has grown to a team of more than 20 developers.
