Warner Attorneys Co-Author Updated Edition of Commentary on the Estates and Protected Individuals Code

Attorneys Mark K. Harder and John H. Martin of Warner Norcross + Judd LLP have co-authored an updated edition of Estates and Protected Individuals Code with Reporters’ Commentary for the Institute of Continuing Legal Education.

The 2016 edition, which was recently released, gives insight on the meaning of Michigan’s laws regarding probate, trusts, guardianships and conservatorships. The publication serves as a reference for attorneys and courts dealing with these laws.

Harder is a partner with the firm and works out of the Holland office; he also chairs the firm’s Family Office Practice Group. His work involves counseling and representing those with high net worth, including individuals, family businesses and closely held businesses. He led efforts by the State Bar of Michigan to write the Michigan Trust Code, as well as other legislation regulating how trusts are handled in the state.

Martin works out of the firm’s Muskegon office. He has taught at several law schools, most recently as a professor of law at Ohio Northern University. He led efforts by the State Bar of Michigan to enact Michigan’s Probate Code and also has served on a number of committees pertaining to probate and estate planning for the State Bar of Michigan.

Both Harder and Martin have received accolades for their work, including election as Fellows of the American College of Trust and Estate Counsel and being named to Best Lawyers in America and Michigan Super Lawyers.
