Warner Attorney Named to State Military Appeals Tribunal

Gov. Rick Snyder has appointed Gaëtan Gerville-Réache, a partner with Warner Norcross & Judd LLP, to the state Military Appeals Tribunal.

Gerville-Réache, who is a member of the firm’s Appellate and Supreme Court Practice Group, will serve on a four-year term on the panel that hears appeals of court-martial decisions from the Michigan National Guard. The tribunal is part of the state Department of Military and Veterans Affairs.

Prior to joining Warner Norcross, Gerville-Réache served as a surface warfare officer in the U.S. Navy at the rank of lieutenant. Snyder noted that he was confident that Gerville-Réache would be a “fair and effective” member of the tribunal.

Active professionally, Gerville-Réache has handled appeals with more than $100 million in controversy.  He is chair-elect of the Appellate Practice Section of the State Bar of Michigan and a chairperson for the  American Bar Association Council of Appellate Lawyers. He is also a member of the Michigan Supreme Court Historical Society Advocates Guild.

Gerville-Réache also serves as editor of Warner’s One Court of Justice blog, the leading blog analyzing Michigan’s appellate courts.
