Warner advises Consumers Energy Company in its $155 Million Power Plant Acquisition

Warner Norcross & Judd LLP represented Consumers Energy Company on its acquisition of a 564-MW gas-fired power plant located in Jackson, Michigan.  Consumers purchased the power plant from AlphaGen Power LLC, an affiliate of J.P. Morgan Ventures Energy Corp. 

Consumers Energy Company, Michigan’s largest utility, is the principal subsidiary of CMS Energy (NYSE: CMS), providing natural gas and electricity to 6.6 million of the state’s 10 million residents in all 68 Lower Peninsula counties.

The Warner Norcross team advising on the transaction was led by partners Bill Jansen and Greg Schmidt.  The deal team consisted of partners Michael Jones, James Rabaut and Scott Hubbard and associates Corinne Sprague, Emily Cantor and Matthew Crowe.
