Two transactions led by attorneys from Warner Norcross + Judd LLP were recognized as Deals of the Year by the Association for Corporate Growth West Michigan.
As part of its Outstanding Growth Awards, ACG West Michigan acknowledged three deals as standout mergers and acquisitions by deal size. Winning deals were characterized by their value, complexity, potential for growth and perseverance shown by the parties involved.
Warner led two of the three transactions honored this year:
- Deal of the Year Over $20 Million: Warner represented Macatawa Bank Corp. (Nasdaq: MCBC) in its merger with Wintrust Financial Corp. (Nasdaq: WTFC), an Illinois-based financial services provider, in a transaction valued at $510.3 million — the largest bank transaction in West Michigan for 2024. Wintrust kept Macatawa as a separately chartered institution and maintained its board of directors, both of which were distinguishing factors for the Holland-based bank.
- Deal of the Year Between $10 Million-$20 Million: Warner represented Sage Direct, a document processing and marketing firm, in its sale to 5THGEN, a closely held investment group in West Michigan with a focus on print and distribution companies, among others.
The Macatawa-Wintrust was also honored by Crain’s Grand Rapids Business as the financial M&A Deal of the Year for 2024.
