Steve Palazzolo is back with a new Warner Employment News from the Law Shanty video that covers three things:
- The U.S. Department of Labor’s Fair Labor Standards Act raising the salary level test on July 1 and Jan. 2025, and with automatic accelerators in place to raise it again in 2027. A lawsuit has been filed, seeking to overturn the proposed rule.
- The U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission has issued new workplace harassment guidance. Although the EEOC states that this is merely guidance and not law, human resources professionals are encouraged to review it due to the workplace harassment examples provided.
- The shortened statute of limitations is now under review by the Michigan Supreme Court. It’s important to note that a disclaimer about the shortened statute of limitations may appear on several of your employment documents.
Steve provides a brief overview of the above three updates and their relevance to how employers manage people and procedures – with tips and timelines for consideration.
