An article in the current edition of Michigan Lawyers Weekly highlights Linda Paullin-Hebden’s “national powerhouse” legal practice and discusses what she sees on the mergers and acquisitions horizon.
Paullin-Hebden, who co-chairs the Mergers and Acquisitions Practice Group at Warner, was named as the ACG® Detroit All-Star Advisor of the Year for her transactional work in the registered investment advisor, broker-dealer and automotive supply industries. Her “outstanding” achievements in 2023 included leading 14 M&A transactions, nine of which closed during the year, two of which closed during the first quarter of 2024 and three of which successfully closed thereafter.
Paullin-Hebden suggests that attorneys can build a thriving practice from wherever they may sit. “It’s important for attorneys to know they can have a national practice from Detroit. The key is cultivating a niche practice and then do it better than anyone else,” she said.
Her approach is both strategic and client focused. “In the BDIA world, I know the industry, know the business model and speak the language,” she explained. “Within a few minutes of a meeting with a client, we’re already deep into the details. This creates trust, brings efficiency to the project and makes me a more valuable partner.”
Looking ahead, Paullin-Hebden sees continued growth in the BDIA industry. “M&A deal flow in the BDIA industry will continue as many firm founders are looking to exit and valuations remain high. It’s a good time to sell – I remind owners that it may take a year or two to get a firm ‘sale-ready,’ and that we can help them with that process,” she said.
