Carbon capture is a promising strategy for reducing the amount of carbon dioxide in the atmosphere and, ultimately, mitigating global climate change. The process also intersects with a broad range of legal, environmental and regulatory issues.

The Michigan Association of Professional Landmen has invited Warner partner Johnny Pinjuv to lead a discussion on carbon capture and its effect on land and title matters during its General Membership Meeting on Nov. 5.

Pinjuv will discuss the legal framework emerging around carbon capture and sequestration in Michigan, including legislation now moving through Lansing. He will examine the title issues these projects raise, including questions of ownership and severed interests, and the practical implications for land professionals conducting title work.

At Warner, Pinjuv focuses his practice on real estate, renewable energy and mining law. He advises clients on complex real estate transactions and development projects, with particular focus on renewable energy development, carbon sequestration, mineral rights and large-scale public/private projects. He also counsels clients on acquisitions, divestitures, lease negotiations and general real estate matters.
