<a href="https://www.wnj.com/people/homayune-a-ghaussi/">Ghaussi</a> suggested that the current tariffs differ from the earlier 2018 tariffs due, in part, to the Trump administration’s suggestions that there will be no exemptions and no classification opportunities to reduce or otherwise avoid these tariffs. “These are much more sweeping tariffs with far fewer exemptions,” Ghaussi said.

Although the situation remains fluid, Ghaussi advised manufacturers to first map out their current supply chain partners and review contracts and delivery terms to better understand their potential risks. After this due diligence is complete, suppliers can look for strategies to help alleviate expected higher costs and/or production disruptions.
