Crain’s Detroit Again Names Warner One of the “Cool Places to Work”

What makes a law firm a cool place to work? At Warner Norcross & Judd LLP, the answer comes back to water slides, bagels and yoga.

For the sixth time, Crain’s Detroit Business has recognized the firm as one of the top “Cool Places to Work” for large employers. Warner Norcross was selected for its commitment to work-life balance, workplace flexibility and excellent compensation and benefits package.  Additional factors ranged from vacation time to support for community service to communication with supervisors.

Warner Norcross is one of the largest law firms in Michigan with 230 attorneys practicing in eight offices. A full-service law firm, Warner Norcross has 40+ practice and industry groups that cover virtually every aspect of law.

“We are delighted to again receive this recognition, which is based upon employee feedback,” said Douglas A. Dozeman, managing partner for Warner Norcross. “Providing the best service to our clients starts with making a commitment to providing the best working environment for our team members. We constantly strive to make sure we are staying atop the ever-changing needs in our workplace and responding to feedback.”

Indeed, one of the benefits for employers making the list is that they receive feedback from the survey completed by employees, allowing them to see where they are exceling and where they need to improve.

Some factors that go into making Warner Norcross a cool place to work include:

  • Great Wolf Lodge family get-away weekends and other fun events
  • Free bagels, fruit, granola and healthy snacks
  • On-site health coach and nutritionist
  • On-site fitness classes such as cardio kickboxing and yoga
  • Paid time off for community service and volunteer work
  • Family-friendly benefits, such as adoption assistance, lactation facilities and eldercare assistance

Companies seeking consideration were administered two surveys. The first one asked company leadership about policies, practices and demographics. The second survey went to employees, and the data from that was analyzed by the Best Companies Group to determine the “Cool Places to Work” recognition.

Crain’s Detroit published the full list of those recognized on Aug. 29. You can see the firm’s profile here and watch a short video here.
