We assisted a client with the process of permitting the first primary nickel mine in the United States, and we assist with the ongoing operation of the mine. This permitting project was a complex one which drew multiple challenges, with the litigation eventually going to the Court of Appeals. After a hotly-contested case proceeding, the Court of Appeals affirmed the decision of the Department of Environmental Quality (DEQ) to grant the mining permit to our clients.
