Attorney Spotlight: Frank Henke

What kind of law do you practice and what do you enjoy about it?

I practice in the areas of estate planning, estate, gift and generation skipping transfer tax planning, estate and trust administration, and corporate and business succession planning. I enjoy practicing in these areas, because every situation I encounter is unique, and requires a different analysis and planning strategy. I like analyzing and strategizing for these unique situations, and arriving at a resolution for the client. I take comfort in knowing that I’ve assisted my clients in implementing their wishes and putting their minds at ease. I also enjoy my practice, because it enables me to interact with so many people and to learn about their backgrounds, businesses, families and interests.

Tell us about your background and why you decided to become an attorney.

I grew up in Centerline, Michigan, and graduated from St. Clement High School. After graduating from high school, I attended Grand Valley State University in Grand Rapids, Michigan, where I majored in English. While attending college, I also took classes in the areas of law and policy, and developed an interest in becoming a lawyer. I felt that majoring in English would enable me to develop writing and communication skills that would be beneficial to a lawyer. After graduating from Grand Valley State University, I attended the University of Detroit Law School where I received my law degree. I decided to become an estate planning and business transactional attorney (as opposed to a litigation attorney) because I recognized that there was a need in this area, and also because I wanted to be of service in helping people to achieve their personal and business goals. In return, this has served me well, as I have learned a lot and have been able to help and guide many people.

When did you decide to join Warner Norcross?

I decided to join Warner Norcross + Judd in early 2009. I wanted to work for this firm not only because it is one of the best and most reputable full-service law firms, but also because it encourages a culture and environment that promotes teamwork, collegiality and the ability to develop one’s practice to its greatest potential. Additionally, because of this teamwork approach, I also am able to provide assistance and resources to my clients who have needs in legal areas that are outside of my realm of practice.

What do you think people would be surprised to learn about you?

I am an avid bowhunter and love to spend a portion of my free time in the fall months pursuing this passion in the Michigan outdoors.

What are your hobbies and interests?

My hobbies and interests include spending time with my wife (Christina), my four children (Jessica, Stephanie, Mackenzie and Jack) and my other family members; practicing my faith as a Christian with family and friends; hiking, biking, skiing, kayaking and other outdoor activities; golfing, hunting and participating in and watching all types of sports.
