Warner Norcross + Judd LLP attorney James Liggins has been elected president and attorney Charlie Quigg has been elected secretary of the West Michigan Chapter of the Federal Bar Association. Liggins and Quigg will serve one-year terms.
Before being elected president, Liggins was the chapter’s president-elect.
In addition to his new role as secretary, Quigg serves as the editor-in-chief of the chapter’s newsletter, Bar & Bench.
The West Michigan Chapter of the FBA is a professional organization for private and government lawyers who practice in the United States District Court for the Western District of Michigan. The association’s goal is to improve the practice of law in federal courts and foster a positive and collegial relationship among the attorneys and judges who practice law and dispense justice in the district.
Noted litigator and community ambassador Liggins runs a multifaceted practice encompassing construction litigation, property disputes and real estate concerns, as well as business contractual disputes, criminal defense, health care issues and emergency manager matters. With an in-depth understanding of the toll that litigation can take on clients, Liggins makes every effort to proactively position them to avoid courtroom disputes. If a judge or jury trial ultimately proves to be the best course or action, clients know he will put everything he has into procuring the best outcomes possible.
Liggins is recognized by Michigan Super Lawyers for Business Litigation, a recipient of the Honorable George N. Bashara Jr. Distinguished Alumni Award, and serves on the State Board of Ethics, is co-chair of the State Bar’s Judicial Qualifications Committee, is on the board of directors for Southwest Michigan First, Greenleaf Trust, Bronson Healthcare Group, Harold and Grace Upjohn Foundation, and is the former board chair for the Douglas Community Association and the Kalamazoo Defender.
Quigg helps clients solve complex civil and criminal problems. While he focuses on white-collar criminal defense and investigations and civil and criminal appeals, he has experience in a wide array of areas, including commercial disputes, constitutional law, campaign finance, administrative law, health care, bankruptcy, intellectual property, and tax.
