  • We recruit our summer associates on a nationwide basis from dozens of law schools. Like most of our attorneys, our summer associates had alternative offers from bigger firms in bigger cities. They came here for the quality of our practice and client base, for our policies that foster collegiality and teamwork, because they wanted to have a healthy work-life balance, and for the exceptional quality of life in Michigan. That combination is difficult—if not impossible—to find in a big city law firm. Being a summer associate also gives you a leg up on your competition: We do the majority of our new associate hiring from our summer clerkship program.

Information on minority scholarships is available here.

We're proud to be a founding member of the Managing Partners Diversity Collaborative and GRab LAW. This is an initiative of the Grand Rapids Bar Association to attract the best and most diverse talent to West Michigan and is part of our firm-wide commitment.
