October Brought National Estate Planning Awareness Week

Have you looked at your plan lately?

This week occurs every October to remind people of the importance of estate planning and the benefits it offers to families. Estate planning is more than creating a will and the power of attorney documents that let you choose the people who will help you if you become ill or incapacitated. It can help you create a plan to maintain financial security during your lifetime and transfer your property and assets as you wish, and in the most private and financially-efficient way possible, at your death.

Since life is constantly changing, estate planning should not be a once-in-a-lifetime activity. If you have not looked at your estate plan in at least five years, it is time to dust it off and identify and changes needed due to tax law changes or family events like marriages, births, divorces or deaths.

If you don't have an estate plan, please call us. If your estate plan is older, re-read it and contact your attorney if changes are needed.
