Covenants Not to Compete – A Special Extended Law Shanty

Steve Palazzolo is back from a much-needed vacation with a new episode of “Warner Employment News from the Law Shanty.” Today’s video focuses on noncompetes. Before Steve took his break, he received several inquiries about noncompetes and whether the state and federal governments are taking action. Traditionally, Michigan has been a state that enforces noncompetes but not every state takes the same stance. Now with the FTC’s newly proposed rule prohibiting employers from imposing noncompete clauses – there is a lot of uncertainty for employers. Steve addresses Michigan’s legislative position on noncompetes and also what’s happening at the federal level. He provides perspective on what to expect in the coming months.
