Warner Scores a Great Result for a Global Manufacturer

Warner Norcross & Judd attorney Lance Zoerhof recently finalized the terms of a great litigation result for an automatic door manufacturer.

The West Michigan lawsuit involved a set of automatic doors used at a local big-box retail store. A customer at the store alleged that he was injured by the doors and sued the client for more than $1.5 million. Zoerhof, assisted by WNJ attorney Dawn Ward and paralegal Jeanne Nyhuis, filed a motion for summary disposition. In response, the plaintiff agreed to settle for a very small fraction of the damages he had been seeking.

“The client agreed with our advice to take an aggressive position of non-liability in this case, and they were very pleased with the result,” said Candace Dugan, a WNJ attorney who has represented this client for years.

Zoerhof, who practices in general commercial litigation, called the outcome an exceptionally favorable result. “All of us were very pleased.”
