Three Warner Norcross & Judd LLP attorneys have contributed significant chapters to the new edition of Michigan Estate Planning Handbook.
The Institute for Continuing Legal Education recently published the second edition of the handbook, which provides an overview of estate planning, trusts, wills, durable powers of attorney and related issues. Warner Norcross attorneys Carl W. Dufendach, John H. Martin and James P. Spica contributed 13 of the 29 chapters in the volume, or 45 percent of the handbook. Forms developed by the Firm provide the basis for the basic will and trust forms.
Dufendach is a partner who practices in the Firm's Grand Rapids office. He works extensively with closely held businesses, family offices and a wide variety of trusts and estates issues. He joined the Firm in 1979 and is active both personally and professionally. He is a Fellow of the American College of Trust and Estate Counsel.
Martin serves the Firm in an of-counsel role, working in all areas of estate planning, estate and trust administration and charitable organizations. He publishes widely in the legal profession and is also author of Reporter's Commentary to the Michigan Estates and Protected Individuals Code. Martin is recognized in The Best Lawyers in America and is a fellow in the American College of Trust and Estate Counsel, the American Bar Foundation and the Michigan State Bar Foundation. He practices in the Firm's Muskegon office.
Spica joined Warner Norcross in 2005 and serves as senior counsel in the Metro Detroit office. He concentrates his practice on taxation, estate planning, trust administration and planned giving. He has been a professor at the University of Detroit Mercy and Wayne State University law schools. He publishes frequently on estate planning topics.
